If there’s one thing Covid taught us, it’s the importance of creative problem solving as wedding planners. So when the pandemic hit and we had to postpone what was supposed to be Kathryn and Carleton’s West Texas wedding in the one-and-only Marfa—we said, “What else ya got, Covid?” and brought the Marfa wedding vibes right to their backyard. (If you don’t know, Marfa is a straight hidden GEM of a town that makes up for what it lacks in cell-phone service with epic views, wild landscapes, a surprising modern-art scene, and the most charming slow-pace vibes. Seriously—go Google it, then reach out and we’ll start planning your Marfa wedding stat. It’s the best setting ever for an exciting guest experience.)
For this intimate backyard affair, design ended up being a scaled-back—but just as impactful—version of what we had in the pre-Covid plans for the couple’s initial Marfa wedding. We wanted to create a modern desert oasis chock-full of amber hues and envy-worthy textures. Bird Bird Biscuit provided thee most delicious chicken sandwiches for the intimate guestlist, Open Road Florals absolutely killed it with a gorgeous textural floral install, and Bee Lavish brought the fire as far as rentals go. All in all, these dreamy desert-inspired backyard nuptials absolutely gave us our Marfa-wedding fix….for the month at least.
