5 Badass Austin Hotels to Get Married In

Looking for your perfect hotel venue for a badass Austin, Texas wedding? XO Moreau takes you on a tour of our faves including Hotel Zaza, Austin Proper & more.

Austin, TX has it made with some of the most unique wedding venues you could want for your big day. When looking for a spot to get hitched, don’t forget that a hotel wedding doesn’t mean a boring ballroom at a chain hotel by the airport! Let me tell you about some of the most badass, versatile and best-smelling Austin hotel wedding venues here. Yeah, your girl said “best smelling” — hear me out, don’t make it weird.

1. Hotel Zaza

Hotel Zaza is the funky, edgy hotel of my dreams and it smells so damn good. When I catch a whiff of that special hotel bouquet, I can’t stop thinking about the bomb ass restaurants, the amazing art, and the suites that take comfort to the next level without being so boring you’ll sleep away your stay. Weddings are a sensory experience, so why not pick a venue where its one-of-a-kind smell will transport you back to the best celebration of your life every time you go back for more?

Your grand Hotel Zaza wedding could take over the most gorgeous ballroom, or buy out one of the restaurants and cap it off with a bottle of champagne sprayed over you poolside. They’ve got walls of gold framed mirrors for all those wedding day selfies, exposed brick, and a view of the downtown Austin skyline that cannot be beat. I got the chance to throw a bomb celebration for Jenny & Collin at Zaza, and I can’t wait to head back to plan another funky, wild, fun wedding with their signature hotel smell.

2. Commodore Perry Estate

Want to have the feeling of a private island resort wedding without leaving Austin? Enter the Commodore Perry Estate — an Italian Renaissance Revival mansion nestled on 10 acres of private land in the heart of Austin. The Commodore Perry aesthetic is thoughtfully-curated, creating an old-old European elegance in the heart of Texas. Talk about a five-star resort experience.

There are so many options at the Commodore Perry. Big wedding for 120? Hell yes. Intimate elopement for 10? Dope. Buy out the whole mansion and treat all of your guests to a wedding weekend in the lap of luxury? Let’s do it! You can stroll the stately grounds of the mansion feeling royal as f before you say “we do!” in the chapel, and then wear out your dancing shoes on its antique floors. The next morning, the only decision you’ll have to make is whether to drag your wedding bed head to brunch in the greenhouse, or order room service.

The options may seem overwhelming, but that’s what you have XO Moreau for. We’ll make sure that your Commodore Perry Estate wedding is a five-star stunner that incorporates its cultured charm and your unique style.

3. Hotel Saint Cecilia

Speaking of those hotel buyouts, Hotel Saint Cecilia offers one of the best opportunities for a buyout in Austin. Within walking distance to your fav South Congress shops and restaurants, this uber-exclusive boutique hotel is a quaint historical property in high demand. It’s perfection for that intimate wedding weekend with your nearest and dearest (and when we say intimate, we mean it — there are only 14 guest suites/bungalows/studios).

And what better spot for music lovers than a hotel named after the patron saint of music and poetry? You know your hotel is next-level when they offer Gibson guitar rentals to the guests. Imagine strumming one of those puppies and singing your vows at the altar. Now that’s rock and roll.

4. South Congress Hotel

You know your girl is into those nice smells, and South Congress Hotel passes the XO Moreau sniff test. The location? Central (hello, South Congress Ave.). The food? Drool-worthy. The venue spaces? Indoor, outdoor, and oh-so versatile. The staff? Incredible. South Congress Hotel has so much personality already that I know we’ll have a blast taking it to the next level for your wedding day. There are so many ways to curate vastly different events all in the same property. Their courtyard is ideal for a killer wedding ceremony, with the lobby bar as the perfect place for your cocktail hour. And as far as the rehearsal dinner goes? It’ll be a doozy choosing between their three onsite restaurants.  Otoko’s Japanese cuisine is to die for, Central Standard has the best sangria in town, and Cafe No Se straight up slaps! Check out Annie & Scott’s wedding for inspiration, and then hire me to give you the sangria-soaked wedding of your dreams!

5. Austin Proper Hotel

Last but not least is the Austin Proper Hotel. The Austin Proper offers the size and scale of a large hotel, with the luxe design and plush amenities of a boutique hotel. Talk about a match made in heaven! Interior designer Kelly Wearstler’s signature bold color and texture are evident throughout, making for some amazing wedding weekend backdrops. Their world-class spa is the perfect place to pamper yourself on wedding day. And for that evening? I can see passed Tex-Mex hors devours and cocktails on the modern courtyard as you watch the sunset. I am obsessed. Please, pretty please won’t you hire me to plan a wedding here?
