16 of the Best Italy Wedding Venues (That Aren’t Lake Como)

Explore Italy’s many destination wedding locations beyond Lake Como. Our experts highlight 16 of the best wedding venues in Sardinia, Tuscany, Puglia & Sicily.

Don’t get me wrong — Lake Como, Italy is beautiful. But it’s also a popular spot, which means snagging your dream wedding date during the summer season can be nearly impossible. My advice? Look at the other stunning destinations Italy has to offer! As a destination wedding planner, these are a few of my Italian favorites that you probably haven’t considered.

Sardinia

Sardinia is an Italian hidden gem — though, is it really hidden if it’s the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea? Just last year, Forbes named several of its beaches among the top 15 across Europe.

VENUES I’M LOVING:

  • I’m not sure what’s more impressive about Hotel Cala di Volpe — their culinary program, the luxurious accommodations, or the Olympic-sized saltwater pool that’s just steps from the sea.
  • Phi Beach is one of the best beach clubs in the world, featuring sunsets The New York Times has raved about, raging nightlife, and a private venue space literally carved out of ancient rock.
  • Hotel Pitrizza’s natural stone buildings, green roofs, and saltwater pool help it blend into the hillside, but any wedding you host here will definitely stand out.
  • Petra Segreta resort and spa is the brainchild of a husband and wife duo; she dreamed up the architecture and design, he is the chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant.

Tuscany

Nowhere portrays Italian charm like the rolling hills and home-grown vino of Tuscany. Your wedding party will love escaping to the Tuscan sunshine, and your photos are guaranteed to be stunning.

VENUES I’M LOVING:

  • Castello di Velona Resort may have been constructed in the 11th Century, but its private suites, infinity pools, and vineyard views make it fit for a modern day fairytale.
  • With private villas, working vineyards, and an ancient olive grove, I’m not sure any venue “has it all” more than Villa Medicea di Lilliano.
  • Take a look at the pics and you’ll see why Castello di Celsa is on my list. I’ve got two words for you: Italian gardens.
  • Villa Cora will make your eclectic, art-loving heart sing. The estate is full of over-the-top decor, including a bright purple dining room and a classic Baroque ballroom.

Puglia

Puglia is to olive oil what Tuscany is to wine. And the hundreds of miles of Mediterranean coastline only sweeten the deal.

VENUES I’M LOVING:

  • Masseria Calderisi has a true farm-to-table vibe, considering it’s a restored 17th Century farm surrounded by citrus, almond, and olive trees. Plus, there’s two rescue donkeys.
  • Foodies, Borgo Egnazia is for you. Not only is the hotel stunning and luxurious, but it has seven restaurants featuring local cuisine and their own olive oil that will make you want to move in.
  • Into golf? Saltwater spa treatments? A private beach just steps from your room? Get ready to swoon over the indoor-outdoor lifestyle at Masseria San Domenico.
  • Yeah, yeah, so Castello Monaci is a literal castle. But can we talk about their killer wine program featuring tours of the vineyards and wine cellar from wine makers and sommeliers?!

Sicily

Sicily is a cultural melting pot, having Greek, Roman, Arab, and Spanish history before becoming part of Italy. So expect incredible architecture and food, to say the least.

VENUES I’M LOVING:

  • Grand Hotel Timeo will bring an old-world glamor to your wedding. Probably because it’s right next to a Greek amphitheater that dates back to the third century.
  • Get married among the rocks and salt air at Tonnara di Scopello, which features 15 apartments so close to the water, the fisherman could toss you your dinner from their boats.
  • With 67 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a private beach, and banquet room, the Villa Sant’Andrea hotel is big enough to house your entire guest list — including your furry friends.
  • So, hear me out: Tonnara di Marzamemi is a tuna factory. An incredibly gorgeous, ancient tuna factory that’s right on the water, next to a courtyard, and beneath five-star suites. You’ll love it, I promise.
